Daylight Savings Time – Finally!
It is finally here! Spring…that glorious time of the year where we get to enjoy extended daylight hours and perfect riding weather. As far as I am concerned…Day Light Savings Time should be an official mountain biking holiday. Finally, I can have incredible mountain and road biking after work without the aid of lights.
During this time of year, we start up our regular Tuesday night ride at Big Creek. It is not a hard ride by any stretch, but it is a great time to get out with friends and enjoy the trail. Normally, there is regular trail riding with some time back in the freeride area for gully runs, dual slalom blasts and a couple of gaps to throw into the mix. Afterward, there are 2 for Tuesday wings at Wild Wing to curb the starving stomach.
This year, I am also going to throw in a regular road ride or two to get the fitness level I am really striving for. The more spin time and miles I can get in…the better. There truly is no replacement for miles when you are trying to increase overall fitness. There are several group road rides in the area, so I need to pick one that is not on Tuesday and one that starts around 6:00 – 6:30. Hopefully, I can find a group that as great as our mountain biking family. I doubt it…so we might end up starting our own regular thing to keep the stoke flowing throughout the week.
I know there are a lot of you guys that run regular rides in your area. Let’s hear about them! I have thoughouly enjoyed the stories about commuting by bike and other subjects lately…so hit up the comments section with your regular warm weather riding spots.
