Fluid – Recovery Drink
Last week, Fluid sent me a tub of their new Tropical Escape flavored recovery drink to test out. This will be my first experience with any recovery drink, so I am excited to see some results. Per the instructions, I am supposed to mix 2 cups of Fluid in with 8 oz of water and drink it no within 30 minutes after my ride.
According to Fluid, it is specially formulated to help the body recover from physical activity in four different ways:
- Fluid restores muscle energy levels with complex carbohydrates and all natural fruit sugar.
- Fluid supplies muscles with ultra pure whey protein isolate and 2500mg of muscle supporting L-Glutamine.
- Fluid prevents aches, pains, and soreness associated with training by stopping inflammation before it starts.
- Fluid replenishes the body with electrolytes and provides immune boosting Vitamin C. Fluid also combines ingredients that are synergistic and provide more benefit than taking them individually.
As you can probably tell, those four ways are taken directly from their promotional brochure that they sent me with the bucket of powder.
What does it mean to me?
I am not a nutritionist so the technical talk is lost on me. I am looking for something that can help my muscles recover after hammer rides where I am trying to keep up with riders that are much faster than me. I would like to actually be able to ride the next day instead of wondering if I can get out of bed. Will this product help me achieve that goal? Time will tell, but I do like the fact that Fluid is all natural. They also have a great website and some impressive athletes in their camp. I will be using this product over the course of the next month or so. I believe that amount of time should be sufficient in determining if this product works for my needs or if it is just another powder like you see in GNC.
I started using it after Saturday’s ride in the mountains. My first impressions so far are pretty good. I don’t know if it is a placebo affect, but I was able to hammer out Sunday at Blankets Creek without issue (other than Georgia humidity). If that is a sign of things to come…I should be incredibly happy with the results, but as I said before…time will tell.

Fluid stuff sounds pretty cool.
I’ve been using Cytomax powder in my water while I ride to replenish myself. For recovery, I’ve been sticking with a roast beef sandwich, burger, beef jerky or, if nothing else, a lot of chocolate milk. Seems to work fine. I can ride hard multiple days, back to back, without issue.
