GT Bicycles Gold DiggersI got an email from a friend of mine over at GT Bicycles yesterday linking me up to the first video of the GT Golden Race Series. For those of you that are not already in the know, it’s a 7-part race series that was launched at Sea Otter. The fastest amateur in the selected race wins a GT Golden Bike and has to defend the Golden Bike at the next stop.

So what are the perks of the golden bike from GT? You not only get your own golden GT bike to race with expert mechanics on hand…but you also get hot cheerleaders (affectionately called the “Gold Diggers”) as support! Now…who does not like hot woman on their support team?

Ripped from gtisgolden.com:

GT Bicycles Golden Mountain BikeMeet the GT Golden Bike. It’s light. It’s fast. It’s got the best frame and components anywhere. Oh, and did we mention it’s completely gold? Starting on April 19th, the Golden Bike will be up for grabs at races around the country. Win the race, win the bike. It’s that easy. But there’s a catch. Winning the Golden Bike means you have to defend it at the next Golden race. Don’t worry, we’ll cover your race fee, put you up in a hotel and fly you and a friend there. We’ll also give you a GT Golden Race jersey and a $250 Sugoi gift certificate. But you’d better win or you’ll surrender the Golden Bike and all its glory to whoever does. With all that said, good luck winning the Golden Bike. You’ll need it.

  1. GT has really been stepping up their marketing machine as of late. Hopefully it pays off… I haven’t ridden an iDrive in YEARS, so I can’t speak to the quality of the product. In the back of my mind, I wonder about it, but since I haven’t ridden one, I can’t say for sure how good/bad it is.

  2. Tenbroeck says:

I like this campaign by GT. I think they should up the tongue-in-cheek aspect a little bit to make it funnier–they are trying to be a little funny, right?

GT seems to have stuck with this rear suspension package for quite a while, and I like that. If something works well, then stick with it. I know guys who ride them and like them…

So, when is there going to be an MTB 198 review of a GT bike?

  3. I wonder how they work the logistics. If it is only a single bike, how much would it suck to win and be on it if it is too big or small for your next race.
