Hadley Racing – The Red Hubs Out Of The Box
“Made In America Engagement”
When Hadley Racing offered me the opportunity to review their new hubs, I jumped at the opportunity. Hadley Racing hubs are made in the USA and offer a great engagement rear hub at 72pt. At the time I talked to Hadley, they were a week or two back ordered on their black hubs, so red it was. When I got these hubs out of the box…I was extremely happy with the red!
What is in my care package from Hadley Racing?
72 pt. Rear Hub with 10mm TA
- Actual Weight – 350g and 400g with 10mm TA installed
- 72 Point Engagement
- 32 Hole Red
20mm TA Front Hub
- Actual Weight – 170g with 20mm End Caps Installed
- 32 Hole Red
Axles
- 15mm TA Front Axle
- 10mm TA Rear Axle
The 10mm TA rear axle from Hadley Racing is the best in the business. It is actually the axle I used on the 10mm TA rear Hope Pro 2 hub that was recently reviewed. It adds stiffness to the rear of your ride while still being as easy (almost) as a conventional QR. The 10mm TA axle is machined to work perfectly with your standard QR dropouts.
The front hub I received from Hadley Racing is also new for 2009. It is lighter without compromising strength. I will be testing it in both light and heavy bike conditions with the Fox Talas and Rock Shox Lyrik.
For the wheel build, these hubs will be heading off to Kovachi Wheels to get laced up to some NoTubes.com ZTR Flow rims.
Stay tuned for more info as this review gets rolling. So far…these hubs from Hadley Racing sure are pleasing to the eye! We’ll have to see how they perform on the trail.

I have a rear red Hadley built with a 29er Flow on my Sultan. The wheel is sweet!

Just received, installed, and tested my pair of new Mavic 819’s with new Hadley red hubs, 32 DTSwiss double butted spokes, black brass nipples at Blankets yesterday. The instant engagement pedal:wheel makes ALL the difference in negotiating trail obstacles. Quiet in coasting, too. At a lower cost that I-9 or Chris King, to me this is the best kept secret in MTB hub offerings.
Forget mounting non-UST tires on any UST rim… sidewalls just sweat air and sealant. I’ll run my old tube tires til I need new ones.
