Turner Bikes Goes DW-Link!

Update – Exclusive Interview with Dave Turner on the DW-Link and other subjects is now available on MTB by 198! Exclusive Interview with Dave Turner | Mountain Biking by 198

Dave Turner and Dave Weagle have teamed up to change the entire line of Turner Bikes over to the DW-Link. This is a gigantic change for Turner Bikes and it is the release that Weagle has been hinting towards for some time now.

Drop Machine did an interview with DW and you can find it here.

For those of you worried about if the new frames are going to ride like a Turner…this is straight from Weagle’s mouth:

The frame geometry and mechanical implementation is all Turner. I try to help where I can with suggestions in the form of hand sketches when we are trying to solve specific issues, but Dave and Todd (Turner’s very capable engineer) are on it after that.

I was emailing back and forth with Dave Turner about our upcoming interview (look for it in the next week), and he mentioned that we are going to have plenty to talk about…this is it. The Turner website is already up and running with the changes. I can’t wait to throw a leg over one of these frames to see how it rides.

  • Competitive Cyclist has a good interview w/ DT posted

  • I heard from Pivot Cycles that they had to get approval from Turner to use the DW-Link design because Turner had licensed it several years ago, in hopes of using it for a design change later on.

I was shocked that a small company like Turner had the foresight to license that design so early on. Maybe Specialized taught everyone a thing or two by registering the FSR patent (and every other thing imagineable) and then making money off of licensing it to others.
