Video: Chunky – Raccoon Mountain – Niner W.F.O 9
A group of us headed up to Chattanooga, TN last weekend to get in some dry singletrack…finally! It has been doing nothing but raining in the southeast United States lately, so we grab any mountain biking time we can get. As you can see by the video, last weekend was what inspired the “How to ride in leaf covered conditions” article I posted earlier this week. You could hardly even see the trail! This added a little bit of tech into the ride but it also flattened out the terrain in the video even more than video footage normally does.
The Chunky trail at Raccoon Mountain is a light FR area with moderate rock drops and some slow tech bouldering. Great area to build up your more technical riding skills.
The following video was shot with the VholdR ContourHD mounted on my head on the Niner W.F.O. 9 review bike.

Helmet cams seem to suffer somewhat like lights on bikes. The depth perception gets a bit out of whack. Having ridden that section of trail it is hard to believe that it films so flat-like. One perspective that I really liked from one of my friends was where he rear-view mounted the camera on the top tube at the seat tube and then captured a rider trailing him. It gave a much better sense of what was going on. Try that perspective out next time you are filming. Nice to see you are still beating on the WFO
